It seemed light when you first picked it up,
But now you
can’t put it down.
It’s become attached to you like an appendage.
You and it seem eternally bound.
It attracts your attention
So you’ll never forget.
And the longer you hold itThe heavier it gets.
Your muscles are strained.
They ache and quiver.
You cry out for help,
But none can deliver
Your spine is curved from the added weight.
Your head is hung down.
You go through the motions but have no joy.
A clear conscious cannot be found.
Guilt.
