About Me

Doris Trueheart is an American poet, writing contempory English poetry. Her style eludes simplicity, and yet her work is thought provoking and deeply reflective. Through this blog she shares a large expanse of her poems covering a myriad of topics.  You can find love poetry, romantic poetry, metaphorical poetry and inspirational poetry.  A large portion of her material is Christian poetry, reflecting her background and her heart. But it is all life poetry, written out of her everyday life experiences.

Her first book, I Do, is an autobiographical sketch told primarily through short stories and poetry. It is a love story. Its 227 pages tell of a journey through difficulties of life, including but not limited to abandonment, domestic violence, rejection, rape, alcoholism, broken relationships, and searching for purpose and meaning in life, to becoming the Bride of Christ. It is a celebration of deliverance and a preparation for promise. This examination of purpose leaves the reader with much to ponder in their own soul-searching. A few of the poems from I Do have been reprinted in this blog.

She has rewritten her book I Do into a sequel: I Do: Becoming the Wife of God, and I Do: Understanding the Role of a Wife.  She is currently writing her fourth book, The Power of Abiding Love.  A few of the poems in this blog along with many more not yet published are included in these books; so you, her followers, get a foretaste.
